Job overview

We are looking for either a Band 5 Occupational Therapist wishing to take their next steps on the career ladder or an existing Band 6 looking for a new challenge to join our forward-thinking Occupational Therapy Medicine Team.

You will have the opportunity to work with a range of patients who will present with many complex needs throughout their acute hospital stay. Within the Team you will work alongside an existing integrated multi-disciplinary team, focusing on high quality care, promoting comprehensive assessments, and supporting hospital teams in appropriate admission avoidances over a seven-day service. A willingness to work flexibly and to undertake tasks traditionally allocated to specific disciplines are all requirements of the role.

As a Band 6 therapist you will be supporting and developing rotational Band 5 therapists. The role also involves supervising therapy support staff and educating therapy students on placement. There will be opportunities for innovation and an expectation that you will be actively involved in relevant quality improvement projects.

Our friendly Service offers support through regular supervision, appraisal, training and development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

This is a static post providing skilled assessment, treatment and interventions for patients with a range of complex and or chronic conditions, providing advanced Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment and providing specialist advice and support to other professionals throughout the Trust.

The Occupational Therapist will provide specialist skills which enable patients to explore, achieve and maximise independence and maintain quality of life in their activities of daily living, areas of personal care, domestic, leisure and productive activities.

You will be part of a seven day service working flexibly to provide Occupational Therapy services to our patients.

The Occupational Therapist will hold a full clean driving licence to travel if required sites and complete environmental/home visits as required.

As part of the role you will be take part in  a 7 day extended hours service
