Essential qualities expected are efficiency, being well organised, having good communication skills and attention to detail. Good keyboard skills are desirable.
In addition, you should be a reliable individual who is able to demonstrate good practical skills and work as part of a team. You must be keen to embrace new ways of working and develop your knowledge and skills and able to participate in the shift system.

As a Band 3 Medical Laboratory Team Leader you would be required to assist the Associate Practitioners in the management of the MLAs, performing appraisals, training new starters and assessing and managing competencies, while working a 24/7 shift pattern alongside the Band 2 MLAs
Main duties of the job
- You will participate in the provision of a comprehensive range of scientific and diagnostic services across various scientific disciplines.
- This includes conducting laboratory tests, analysing results, and ensuring accurate diagnostic information is provided to support patient care.
- Your role will require to use automated laboratory equipment and manual techniques, ensuring all procedures are carried out with the utmost precision and under appropriate supervision.
- You will regularly communicate with a variety of healthcare professionals, including hospital clinicians, general practitioners, and other specialists, to discuss test results, clarify diagnostic information, and collaborate on patient care plan.
- Effective communication will also extend to patients and their representatives, ensuring they are kept informed about the services provided and addressing any concerns or queries they may have.
- Additionally, you will engage with commercial suppliers to coordinate the procurement of laboratory materials and ensure that the necessary resources are available to maintain efficient service delivery.
- Your responsibilities will require a keen understanding of scientific principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work within a team, contributing to the wider goal of delivering high-quality patient care.
- You will need to adhere to NHS policies, quality control protocols, and regulatory guidelines to ensure safety, accuracy, and compliance in all aspects of your work.
