An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of an enthusiastic,  and methodical ICT & AV technician to join our busy Medical Education  Department, on the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire Coventry site.

You will need to work as part of a team, taking ownership in resolving issues whilst managing conflicting priorities of your own  and those of the service effectively.

We are looking for someone who is at ease talking to a wide range of staff groups and has excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Main duties of the job

This post holder will be a key member of the Medical Education team. The post holder will be based at Clinical Sciences Building. They will provide a diverse and innovative range of support, on all AV and related ICT systems applications and other necessary equipment, to aid learning, teaching, and administration. The role will be to prepare educational spaces in CSB and the rest of UHCW by providing AV and ICT operational support services to users.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the IT Team within the Medical Education Department.  You will be required to prepare the room and the equipment according to the specifications for each event. This could include equipment for:

  • teaching
  • video-conferencing
  • sound
  • lighting
  • projection
  • recording

The post holder will take ownership of, and resolve, calls for ICT/AV support raised by users through the online ticketing system.

The post holder will occasionally assist with Project Work as required by the Medical Education IT team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ensure all the ICT and AV equipment in Medical Education spaces is in good working order and is set up as required.

Provide a high technical level of fault diagnosis support for all ICT/AV equipment and associated specialist peripheral devices. Report any problems to maintenance companies as necessary.

  • Operate equipment such as sound or lighting
  • Adjust equipment
  • Test equipment
  • Answer queries and deal with problems
  • Conduct minor repairs to equipment such as changing bulbs for                         projection  equipment.
  • Help ensure all activities are carried out within a quality framework and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Help produce technical material (e.g. graphics, PowerPoint slides and promotional material) and instructional material for the safe and proper use of ICT and AV equipment.
