Job overview
The Medical Education Department at Buckinghamshire have a 6 month Fixed Term post available from February 2027 based across Stoke Mandeville & Wycombe Hospitals. The Medical Education Fellow post is a unique and exciting opportunity which combines an educational role aimed at developing undergraduate and postgraduate education in Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) with a one day a week clinical role in a speciality within the trust.
It is a one year This is a 6 month (usually non-training) fixed term post for prospective candidates who have at a minimum completed the Foundation Programme and would be suitable for candidates of any grade above FY2 up to pre-CCT. However, an earlier start date or extension to 12 months will be considered by mutual agreement.
Candidates must hold a full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice in the UK.

Main duties of the job
Duties of the Education Fellow post holder: The main teaching duties of the post holder are to support the delivery of the BHT’s high quality medical education including the development, delivery and evaluation of courses in undergraduate medical education (with students from University of Oxford Medical School, St George’s Medical School and University of Buckingham Medical School) and postgraduate medical education and related activities.
The post holder would split their time 80:20 between their education role and base speciality. As part of the role, fellows will undertake the Mastering Medical Education Programme for Clinical Teaching Fellows and Educators course, leading to accreditation with the Academy of Medical Educators.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Specific aspects of the undergraduate teaching role:
- Participate in the development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of undergraduate courses and assessment
- Work with specific departments to develop and improve the undergraduate experience
- Planning and providing dedicated bedside teaching, tutorials and lectures
- Support undergraduate clinical skills and simulation training
Specific aspects of the postgraduate medical education role:
- Organise Foundation Programme induction
- Review and develop the weekly Foundation Programme teaching
- Support and continue to develop the Foundation Forum
- Mentorship
- Support postgraduate clinical skills and simulation training It is helpful if candidates have some experience in clinical skills and simulation training.
Development opportunities The post holder will be encouraged to further their own continuing professional development and will be provided with opportunities to take part in a wide range of medical education activities available within the Trust.
