Main duties of the job

Provide visible expert clinical and professional leadership for a group of services within the Care Group. Working in collaboration with the Service Manager and Clinical lead to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality care.

The Matron will Lead quality improvement, patient safety, governance and assurance programmes and monitor clinical standards, audits, incidents and performance, driving continuous improvement.

Manage staffing, develop and support workforce resources and operational performance to ensure safe and sustainable services.

The postholder will need a level of clinical expertise and knowledge of the care group services for the post they wish to apply for.

The post involves participation in the Matron of the day rota which includes evening and weekend working and leads the operational oversight of staffing and patient flow and supports the site/on call team with clinical leadership out of hours.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience working in a leadership position within NHS or relevant healthcare organisation.
  • Demonstrate experience of : Quality/Service improvement- Project Management - Operational leadership - People Management

Desirable

  • Demonstrates evidence of national or regional networking

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse and hold active registration with NMC or Registered AHP and hold active registration with HCPC
  • Masters level qualification relevant to role to demonstrate expert clinical and leadership skills

Desirable

  • Mentoring or coaching qualification
  • Project management and Quality improvement qualification
