Our dedicated team are looking for a motivated Maternity Support Worker who is either currently working at band 3 level or who aspires to undertake the necessary training to enhance existing skills.

We believe that ongoing training, support, and a positive and friendly culture is vital for our teams and will allow them to be able to provide the best possible care for pregnant and newly delivered women and their families.

Our team is part of a county-wide Maternity Services transformation which is committed to service development including the development of a skilled workforce and engaged in the delivery of Continuity of Carer, working in the community.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be confident in undertaking all aspects of the role including UNICEF Breastfeeding Friendly Initiative training will be given.

Hands on practical, help and assessment of all competencies such as Newborn Neonatal Screening Tests - full support and training will be given.

Access and support from Midwives to help you get the most out of your role and to maximise your job satisfaction.

Support with Safeguarding families and professional curiosity.

To deliver high quality, safe antenatal and postnatal care of women and their families.

Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a professional and sympathetic manner under the direct and indirect supervision of your ward manager.

To attend to the physical needs of women and their babies - e.g. personal hygiene and supporting women with the daily care of a baby.

To observe women/baby and report to the midwife responsible for care any concerns.

Safeguard women and babies and notify the midwife of the situation as soon as possible.

Encourage and support women with infant feeding.
