Role Overview The Scottish Ambulance Service is recruiting an experienced Master Craftsperson (Vehicle Technician) to join our Fleet Services team based in either Glasgow (Pinkston Road) or Motherwell (Range Road). Working within a highly skilled workshop team and reporting to the Workshop Chargehand/Supervisor, you will carry out maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and repairs on specialist ambulance and emergency response vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and operationally available to support frontline patient care. The successful candidate may occasionally be required to work at other Scottish Ambulance Service workshop locations.

Working Pattern

Glasgow Workshop: Alternating early and late shifts covering Monday to Thursday 05:45–22:00 and Friday 05:45–17:00.

Motherwell Workshop: Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00.

Shift arrangements will be discussed further during interview. Should you be required to work from another workshop location, alternative shift patterns may apply.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified Vehicle Technician with experience in the maintenance and repair of cars and light commercial vehicles.

  • Have undertaken an automotive apprenticeship and be qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or comparable qualification) or equivalent experience.

  • Have experience operating in a demanding working environment with health and safety at the forefront of our operation.

This is a full-time position working 36 hours Monday to Friday. You may also be required to undertake occasional overtime and public holiday working. Glasgow has weekend working on a rota. Motherwell has weekend On-call on a rota; all paid at the appropriate enhanced rate.
