Main duties of the job
As a Maintenance Operative at Horse Fair Care Home, your primary focus will be to ensure that the building and grounds are maintained in top condition, engaging in numerous routine maintenance tasks and conducting checks to services. You will be responsible for applying basic repairs and fixes to equipment and systems to guarantee the functionality of facilities. Other tasks will include undertaking general maintenance tasks, assisting with electrical and plumbing jobs, and re-decoration to maintain home standards. Helping new residents to settle by arranging their rooms, advising on the supply and quality of items used for tasks, and ensuring the timely ordering of replacement goods are also part of the role. You will have to provide out-of-hours emergency service, participating in the on-call rota.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Your focus as a Maintenance Operativewillbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.
Other responsibilitieswillinclude:
- Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
- Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
- Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome.
- Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.

- Have a minimum of one years experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
- Hold a full driving licence.
- Have knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
- Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
