Cygnet Group is seeking a Maintenance Assistant / Maintenance Operative to join our team at Hawkstone House. In this important role, you'll help ensure our service remains safe, secure and well maintained, creating the best possible environment for the people in our care, our colleagues and visitors.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a practical and proactive individual who takes pride in their work. From carrying out repairs and routine maintenance to helping maintain a high-quality social care environment, you'll play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the service and contributing to positive service user experiences.
Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday only, you'll enjoy a great work-life balance with no weekend working, and no on call.
Hawkstone House:
Hawkstone is a specialist residential service in Bradford, West Yorkshire, supporting people with learning disabilities, complex needs and behaviours that may challenge.

Main duties of the job
Your day-to-day...
- Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service
- Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work
- Maintain plant, services & vehicles in working order
- Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment & potential hazards
- Travel to other sites on occasion
- Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights

Job responsibilities
Hawkstone is split into two separate living areas, Hawkstone House and Hawkstone Cottage. Hawkstone House is set in a beautiful 19th century building that was originally the Duke of Devonshires hunting lodge. The building is steeped in history and has a great deal of character, including towers and a grand, ornate entrance foyer.

You are...
- Experienced in all types of painting and decorating in both indoor and outdoor environments
- Willing to travel & hold a full valid driving licence
- Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
- Skilled at DIY & general maintenance
- Preferably Level 2 Diploma qualified in Painting & Decorating/Maintenance
- Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude
