Main duties of the job

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will join Elysium Healthcare's Farmfield Hospital in Charlwood to help maintain a safe environment for vulnerable individuals. Your core responsibilities will include conducting repairs, prioritizing tasks, working on job lists, and coordinating with external contractors. You'll work on various maintenance tasks such as assisting in regular checks, repairs, and engaging in decorating activities. Furthermore, you'll participate in audits and report all defects to management. You will also be placed on a one-week on-call rota for emergencies. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to enhance your DIY skills through extensive training and development courses offered by Elysium Healthcare.

As a Maintenance Assistant you will have:

  • Assisting with ensuring that the service, buildings, facilities and equipment are maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Utilising good DIY skills to ensure safety of service users.
  • Assisting in regular checks and maintenance.
  • Assisting in the repair and maintenance of all buildings.
  • Assisting in all decorating.
  • Reporting all faults and defects to management
  • Participating in a 1 week retaining on-call rota for the purposes of emergency maintenance issues that arise.
  • Coordinating and supporting contractors whilst on site and completing of all paperwork and tool checks.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • To comply with system and procedures.
  • Have previous experience within a maintenance role.
  • To work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Show courtesy and respect to patients at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of service.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.

You’ll be caring for adult men 18+ who potentially have a forensic background and enduring mental health illnesses such as personality disorder, substance misuse issues and challenging behaviours.
