Job summary

Job Summary An opportunity for a skilled nurse to join our lung cancer nurse specialist team. You will work as part of a dedicated CNS team to provide advanced nursing expertise, caring for patients, carers and their families, helping them make important decisions throughout their cancer journey. This includes support at key points during their pathway pre-diagnosis, at diagnosis, throughout and beyond treatment.

Main duties of the job

Why you should join our Team You will be part of an experienced team of lung cancer nurse specialists delivering a high level of care and support to patients diagnosed with lung cancer. The role demands a high level of awareness of the needs and treatment of patients with lung cancer. You will provide a high level of support for family and carers throughout the treatment pathway. We work collaboratively with our community and primary care services to deliver high-quality care and support. We strive to maintain good patient experiences and service improvement through robust audit, evaluation and research. There is excellent peer support and the opportunity for personal and professional development through education and learning opportunities within the service.

What you will bring to the role

You will work with a dedicated team of professionals as part of a wider MDT. You will work across patients' clinical pathways, taking referrals from clinicians, nurses and other AHPs. You will be working within a supportive team environment and will be encouraged to share thoughts and ideas. . You will need to be confident with excellent communication skills and demonstrate an ability to be self-motivated. You will participate in the management of a large caseload of patients, often with complex physical, emotional and psychological needs.
