Lead Physiotherapist - Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Health Services (MHLDS)

Grade: Band 8A

Hours of work: 18.5 (18) hours/week

Permanent position

This position is now available for an experienced Physiotherapist to professionally lead the physiotherapy services in Mental Health & Learning Disabilities.

The role includes leadership, strategic and operational management and professional development of physiotherapy staff in Royal Cornhill Hospital and professional leadership of physiotherapy team/services across Grampian.

This exciting and varied role involves the planning, co-ordination and delivery of physiotherapy services in the following areas - adult and older adult mental health, in-patient and community services in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray; rehabilitation services; in-patient and out-patient eating disorders; forensic services; community and in-patient learning disability services – with a key focus on supporting staff who are highly experienced, innovative, flexible and supportive colleagues.

The post holder will work alongside other Allied Health Professional and Physiotherapy Leads, including Dietetics, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy as part of the AHP Leadership team for the MHLDS and will be accountable to the Allied Health Professional Lead. The successful candidate will also be required to work closely with a wide range of other professionals from health and other agencies.

Applicants must be a qualified, HCPC registered Physiotherapist, with significant professional experience in mental health and/or learning disabilities, as well as having a management qualification or equivalent experience. They should be able to demonstrate effective leadership e.g. of teams and services/projects, have experience of service development and improvement, as well as excellent communication skills.
