Job overview

This post will provide a comprehensive specialist service to clients on non-invasive ventilation across the Trust and including the West Midlands and the Welsh border for adult home Ventilation patients. The post holder will have responsibility for the management and assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards. They will act as an expert and resource for members of the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will provide clinical leadership within this area of care and develop specialist education.The post holder will act as the key worker and liaise with other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible specialist care for patients. They will act as a resource for members of the multi-disciplinary team and liaise with other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible specialist care. The post holder will undertake advanced assessment of the on-going care needs of patients with chronic ventilator failure; formulate and facilitate individual plans of care in collaboration with the medical team. The post holder will provide independent home visits to complex patients unable to attend clinic appointments with physicians and attend other hospital Trusts to support patients with chronic respiratory requiring ventilatory support.

  • Develop appropriate advanced clinical and technological skills in response to the changing needs of care and the dynamic state of healthcare services
  • Hold a full car driving licence and be physically capable of sitting for long periods

The post holder will have responsibility for the management and assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards. They will act as an expert and resource for members of the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will provide clinical leadership within this area of care and develop specialist education.The post holder will act as the key worker and liaise with other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible specialist care for patients. They will act as a resource for members of the multi-disciplinary team and liaise with other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible specialist care. The post holder will undertake advanced assessment of the on-going care needs of patients with chronic ventilator failure; formulate and facilitate individual plans of care in collaboration with the medical team.They will participate in innovation and evidence based nursing practice through professional leadership. The post holder will provide independent home visits to complex patients unable to attend clinic appointments with physicians and attend other hospital Trusts to support patients with chronic respiratory requiring ventilatory support. The post holder will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage junior staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential. They will support senior managers and contribute to the development of a high quality, safe and effective service. The post holder will provide managerial support in the absence of the band 8 lead NIV practitioner

  • The post holder will be required to have the dexterity and accuracy required to undertake care of patients in their home and is able to demonstrate the necessary clinical skills
