Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Assistant to join our team within the Logistics section of Pharmacy.

The post will be mainly based at our Pharmacy Department at Bassetlaw Hospital but there is a requirement to participate in a bank holiday rota based at the Pharmacy Department on the Doncaster Royal Infirmary site, plus the need for occasional cross-site working during normal hours Monday to Friday. Both departments are fully automated.

Candidates must have GCSE qualifications in Science, English Language and Maths at Grade C or above and certificates must be provided at interview. Pharmacy experience is desirable for this post but this is not essential as full training would be given.

Applications from candidates who have the BTEC Level 2 / NVQ Level 2 Pharmaceutical Science qualification or equivalent are also eligible to apply for this post.  Any candidates applying with these qualification must provide the certificates at interview. They must also still meet the requirements for GCSEs.

Applications from candidates with non-UK equivalent qualifications must also possess a Statement of Comparability. This must also be provided at interview.

Candidates must also posses good numeric, literacy and keyboard skills. Due to the nature of the work involved, e.g. the manual handling of heavy load and the use of a pallet truck, candidates will need to be physically fit.

Main duties of the job

You will be involved in:-

  • The supply of stock medicines to the wards and departments at Bassetlaw Hospital. •    Topping up of stock medicines at ward / department level. •    The releasing of orders from the automated Pharmacy robot and to assist in the loading of the robot. •    Delivery of medicines to wards. •    Storekeeping duties; including receiving goods from the Pharmaceutical wholesalers and suppliers, performing checks and entering them onto the Pharmacy computer system ready for use. •    Participation in the Bank Holiday rota at the Doncaster Pharmacy site. •    Cross site cover for Doncaster Pharmacy.

The Necessary Requirements

  • GCSE Maths, English Language and Science grade A-C or equivalent (certificates of which must be provided at interview). •    Good numeric & literacy skills as well as basic keyboard skills. •    The post involves manual handling and the use of a pallet truck so you will need to be physically fit. •    The working pattern is for 3 days per week on a Monday to Wednesday 8:30am to 5pm. •    Bank Holiday working is a full day of 7.5 hours and is based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The working pattern advertised is for Monday to Wednesday, with 2 days of 7.5 hours and 1 day 8 hours. The start time of the department is 8:30am. Other working patterns may be possible but due to the small nature of the team and the work carried out, any potential candidates that have a specific requirement that falls outside of the advertised pattern should contact the recruiting manager prior to applying.

Please see attached to the advert a job description and person specification for further details. Please ensure you read this document carefully.
