Job overview

We are looking for a Locum Consultant to provide a full Orthopaedic Hand service. This role is fixed term for 6 months and based at Frimley Park Hospital and Heatherwood Hospital.

Outpatient clinics are also held at a number of our satellite sites - Fleet Hospital, Farnham Hospital and Aldershot Centre for Health.

Main duties of the job

This post is a locum post for 6 months fixed term. At present funding is not in place for this to become a substantive post. The post will have a focus on hand and wrist elective clinics and operating.

The ability to work flexibly, cohesively and in collaboration with the existing consultants is a necessary requirement to the post.

Some of the key elements of the role include:

  • The basis of the post is 10 programmed activities; 8.5 PAs of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1.5 PAs of Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). The post holder will be expected to see new patients as well as operating on patients from the waiting list.
  • The post holder would be expected to work a flexible job plan to utilise existing clinic and theatre capacity. This would include weekend working.
  • The post holder would attend regular clinical and radiology multidisciplinary meetings to facilitate patient care.
  • The post holder would work in collaboration with the existing hand surgery consultants to improve the trust’s RTT position.
