An exciting opportunity for a consultant post for 12 months within the endometriosis team. The post-holder will be required to provide the full range of obstetric skills such as managing the Labour Ward, Section Lists and Maternity Assessment Unit in collaboration with existing consultants as well as attending Gynaecology Endometriosis MDT’s, having independent Gynaecology outpatient clinics and theatre lists. It is essential that the post holder should have an ATSM in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Labour Ward & Robotic Assisted Gynaecological Surgery .
The post holder will provide continuing responsibility for patients in their charge and will work within a team based structure to support care across both hospital sites. He / She will be a member of the relevant divisional, trust and regional committees. He / She will also be expected to participate in the immediate management functions and strategic planning of the Division and Trusts on both sites.
This post is based at University Hospital of North Midlands. Clinical Duties will be across both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital Sites. You will participate in a split Obstetric & Gynaecology on-call rota.
Obstetric 1:32 weekday on-call and 1:28 Weekend obstetric rota.
Gynaecology 1:24 Weekday on-call and 1:24 weekend Gynaecology rota.
Main duties of the job
We are an accredited Endometriosis centre with both laparoscopic and robotic operating. You will be required to attend the Gynaecology Endometriosis MDT’s and deliver independent Gynaecology outpatient clinics and theatre lists to support the waiting lists. There will work in a team of 4 endometriosis consultants.
It is essential that the post holder should have an ATSM/SITM in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Labour ward & a SITM in Robotic Assisted Gynaecological Surgery/Management of non-malignant complex disease and Gynae Surgical Care. Additional leadership roles will be part of the post.

Qulifications
Essential
- Full GMC Registration
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
- CCST or equivalent (‘equivalence’ must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of date of the AAC
- Advanced Labour Ward experience / High Risk Antenatal
- ATSM/SITM in Advanced Laparoscopic surgery
- ATSM/SITM - Robotic Assisted Gynae Surgery
Desirable
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD, PhD, FRCS)
- Evidence of competence in advanced endometriosis surgery
Clinical Experience & Training
Essential
- Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC
- Evidence of competence in advanced endometriosis surgery
- Attendance at MDT meetings
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues and within a team.
Desirable
- Gynaecology Scanning
- Laparoscopy training experience
Academic Achievements, Research, Publications
Essential
- Good leadership skills, communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to undertake a leadership role
