We are looking to appoint a whole time (10 PA) Locum Consultant Thoracic Surgeon for a period of 3 months within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Northern General Hospital campus.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues be responsible for the provision of the Thoracic Surgery service.  He/she will work closely with Consultant colleagues to provide an elective service and partake in the emergency cover rota.  In addition to the main clinical duties at the Northern General Hospital the post holder will provide an advisory and consultative service to medical and surgical colleagues within the catchment area of the Sub-Regional Unit.
