The successful applicant will be a Palliative Medicine Consultant providing the main consultant input to the eight Palliative Care beds in West Berkshire Community Hospital via 2 weekly ward rounds over 2 PAs with the consultant team providing additional input; and 2 PAs working with the Community Service. The Community Service works out of two hubs based in Theale and South Oxfordshire. The postholder will primarily be based in the Theale Hub but will work flexibly across the service.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
- To provide, with colleagues, a Palliative Medicine service in inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
- To provide second on-call cover for the Palliative Medicine service on a 1 in 7 rota. On-call is Category A with a 5% on-call intensity supplement.
Management Responsibilities:
- Active participation in monthly clinical governance meetings within the department.
- Participation and involvement in meetings and other business in the Palliative Medicine service.
