An exciting opportunity for a consultant post for 12 months within the endometriosis team. The post-holder will be required to provide the full range of Gynaecology skills such as attending Gynaecology Endometriosis MDT’s, having independent Gynaecology outpatient clinics and theatre lists. It is essential that the post holder should have an ATSM in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery.
The post holder will provide continuing responsibility for patients in their charge and will work within a team based structure to support care across both hospital sites. He / She will be a member of the relevant divisional, trust and regional committees. He / She will also be expected to participate in the immediate management functions and strategic planning of the Division and Trusts on both sites.
This post is based at University Hospital of North Midlands. Clinical Duties will be across both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital Sites.
You will participate in the Gynaecology on-call rota.
Gynaecology 1:12 Weekday on-call and 1:12 weekend Gynaecology rota.
Main duties of the job
We are an accredited Endometriosis centre with both laparoscopic and robotic operating. You will be required to attend the Gynaecology Endometriosis MDT’s and deliver independent Gynaecology outpatient clinics and theatre lists to support the waiting lists. There will work in a team of 3 endometriosis consultants.
It is essential that the post holder should have an ATSM/SITM in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. Additional leadership roles will be part of the post.

Qulifications
Essential
- Full GMC Registration
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
- CCST or equivalent (‘equivalence’ must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of date of the AAC
- ATSM/SITM in Advanced Laparoscopic surgery
- ATSM/SITM – Gynae Surgical Care
Desirable
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD, PhD, FRCS)
- ATSM/SITM - Robotic Assisted Gynae Surgery
Personal Circumstances:
Essential
- Ability and means to meet the travel requirements of the post
- Residence within 20 miles of base (return to base within 30 minutes if required) To be accessible by telephone for on call duties
Clinical Experience & Training
Essential
- Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC
- Evidence of competence in advanced endometriosis surgery
- Attendance at MDT meetings
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues and within a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibly, and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Gynaecology Scanning
- Laparoscopy training experience
Academic Achievements, Research, Publications

- Good leadership skills, communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to undertake a leadership role
