Job summary

Locum Consultant in the department of Leeds Clinical Genomics Service We are excited to advertise a 6 month full-time (10 PA) Locum Consultant Clinical Geneticist post. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in the Leeds Clinical Genomics Service (LCGS) based at Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This fixed-term post gives the successful candidate an opportunity to experience working within LCGS with possible potential to apply for a substantive post with our team in the future. If shortlisted, you will be required to give a 8-minute presentation on: The changing role of the Clinical Geneticist: where will we be in 10 years? Main duties of the job

The Leeds Clinical Genomics Service (LCGS) provides Clinical Genetics and Genomics services to a diverse population of c.4 million across a large, varied geographical area. The service comprises an experienced team of Consultant Clinical Geneticists, Genetic Counsellors, Genomic Associates and Genetic Research Nurses/Practitioners, as well as Specialty Trainees, Clinical Fellows and trainee Genetic Counsellors, supported by a large clinical administrative team. LCGS is a member of the North East & Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service (NEY GMS), and the service works closely with the Regional Clinical Genetics services based in Newcastle and Sheffield. LCGS is based at Leeds General Infirmary in Leeds, with the Central Lab of the North East and Yorkshire Genomic Laboratory Hub (NEY GLH) situated at St. Jamess University Hospital. Genetics clinics are held in the Leeds hospitals, a satellite unit in Hull and virtually. In addition to providing general and specialist genetics clinics, LCGS contributes to a variety of multidisciplinary teams including oncology, fetal medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology and musculoskeletal services. The post holder to provide consultant cover for Leeds and regional paediatric and adult general genetics clinics. The specialist activity may cover areas such as prenatal clinics, cancer clinics, Genetic Cardiac (Inherited Cardiac Conditions).
