Consultant Radiologist in Breast and General imaging (10 PA: 8.5 DCC/1. SPA)

Applications are invited for a 1 year fixed term locum Consultant Radiologist post to cover maternity leave.  The post is based at both the Hillingdon (THH) and Mount Vernon Hospital (MVH) sites.  The remit of this role will be to deliver the Symptomatic Breast Radiology service at the MVH site and to support the general radiology workload primarily at the THH site.

The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is part of the North West London Imaging Network to improve imaging services and enable better care for cancer, stroke and a wide range of other conditions.

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our dynamic team to help deliver our highly regarded imaging service. It is desirable for the successful candidate to partake in the radiology on call rota (approx. 1 in 16).

Main duties of the job

Applicants for this post must have established NHS experience to independently undertake all radiology aspects for a symptomatic breast service provided at a consultant level.  The applicant should be proficient in undertaking one stop breast symptomatic clinics independently.  This includes independent reporting of mammograms, digital breast tomosynthesis and breast MRI.  Independently undertaking and reporting breast and axillary ultrasound.   Applicants must be able to perform ultrasound guided core biopsy of the breast and axilla within the one stop breast clinic setting.  There will be a requirement to participate and lead in the Breast MDT.

It is desirable that the applicant can undertake stereotactic and ultrasound guided vacuum procedures as well as wire or seed/Tag localisation.

The symptomatic one stop breast clinic and breast procedures are undertaken in the breast imaging department which opened in 2022 at the MVH site.  Current kit includes a 3Dimension Hologic Mammogram machine, Brevera Vacuum Machine and Samsung ultrasound machine.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the general radiology workload as per service needs.  The department has rolled out a home reporting solution for radiologists and therefore there may be the potential for home reporting DCC sessions.

The allocation of programmed activities will be based on 8.5 PA for direct clinical. Any candidate who wishes to be considered for part-time working is welcome to apply.
