You will be responsible for the safe delivery, collection and storage of linen, uniforms and related items across wards, clinics and departments, ensuring the right stock is available at the right time. Working as part of a supportive team, you will use modern stock control systems, follow planned delivery routes, and respond flexibly to service demand, including periods of increased pressure.

This role requires a professional, customer‑focused approach, good communication skills and the ability to work safely in a busy healthcare environment. You will follow infection prevention, health and safety and manual handling procedures at all times.

We offer full training, opportunities for development, and flexible working patterns. If you take pride in doing a job that makes a real difference to patient experience and clinical care, we would welcome your application.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Linen & Logistics Assistant (Band 2) plays a key role in supporting safe, effective patient care by ensuring the timely delivery, availability and quality of linen and laundry services across the Trust. Reporting to the Linen & Laundry Supervisor, the post holder will work as part of a wider Estates & Facilities team within a busy acute hospital environment.

The role involves the collection, delivery and distribution of clean linen, uniforms and associated items to wards, clinics and departments, ensuring stock is available to meet both planned and unplanned demand. The post holder will be responsible for safely loading, unloading and manoeuvring linen cages and trolleys, following manual handling guidance and health & safety procedures at all times.

Accurate stock management is a key element of the role. This includes decanting and rotating stock, monitoring usage levels, and using digital systems to record linen movements, audits and shortages. The post holder will report quality issues, defects or service disruptions promptly to ensure risks are mitigated.

The Linen & Logistics Assistant will maintain high standards of infection prevention and control when handling clean and used linen and will comply fully with Trust policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work. A professional, customer‑focused approach is essential, with clear and respectful communication required when liaising with clinical and non‑clinical colleagues.

The role requires flexibility to respond to service pressures, including working shifts, weekends and bank holidays. The post holder may be required to support wider Facilities services where appropriate and will undertake any other duties commensurate with Band 2 responsibilities. Full training will be provided, and the role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient experience, safety and service continuity.
