This is a pivotal role for a motivated individual with strong clinical expertise and leadership skills. You will be responsible for coordinating the specialist urology team to deliver the highest standards of holistic patient care. From assessment to planning, implementation and evaluation, working collaboratively with our team. This will include robotic urology theatres.
Location: Doncaster Royal Infirmary (rotation to other sites may be required).
Main duties of the job
The applicant must have qualifications of an Operating Department Practitioner/Registered Nurse with at least 2 years’ experience at band 5 with current registration and be able to demonstrate recent expert clinical practice in urology surgery inclusive of robotic experience. Dual role is desirable but not essential (both anaesthetic and scrub experience).
The applicant must be able to demonstrate a positive attitude, the ability to lead a team and be open and receptive to change and have ambition to help drive the service forward. In return for your expert clinical skills and commitment to service development, we will support you to develop your leadership through a personalised development plan and leadership responsibilities.
The position is full-time 37.5 hours a week.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate an awareness and understanding of current professional issues and practice evidenced by a current portfolio.
Evidence of any training, mentorship or preceptorship of student ODPs and Nurses.
Evidence of any management experience will be desirable as the role involves managing the department in the absence of the Band 7

- Minimum of 2 years obs, gynae & breast anaesthetic/scrub experience
- Scope roles/competencies relevant to speciality
- Evidence of department management under supervision
- Demonstration of knowledge and skills in required speciality / specialities

- Seizes opportunities to learn about and implement new technology to enhance personal and team performance
Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Current registration with NMC or HCPC - *NMC registrations should be registered with an anaesthetic qualification. This position is a dual role and the successful applicant must be competent in anaesthetic and scrub.
- Degree or evidence of degree level study
- Demonstrate professional post-registration development
- Have D32/33 997/998 or equivalent teaching qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Evidence of research based practice
- Participation in management / leadership courses. ALS trained
