Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Physiotherapist to join our specialist multidisciplinary team working across Liaison Psychiatry Outpatients and the Leeds and West Yorkshire ME/CFS Service.
This unique role offers the opportunity to provide clinical and professional leadership across two specialist services that support individuals presenting with complex physical and psychological health needs, Persistent Physical Symptoms (PPS), Long Term Conditions, and ME/CFS.
Working alongside experienced colleagues from Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, and medical professions, both services deliver integrated, person-centred care through a combination of outpatient appointments, and virtual consultations, with the requirement for community-based interventions across the West Yorkshire footprint. This enables accessible, flexible support for individuals whose conditions can significantly impact daily functioning, independence and quality of life.
The successful candidate will provide leadership for physiotherapy across both services, with responsibility for the development, delivery and ongoing evaluation of the Severely Affected (SA) Pathway within the ME/CFS Service and the Adult Rehabilitation for Complex Conditions (ARCC) Pathway within Liaison Psychiatry Outpatients. The successful candidate will also need to represent physiotherapy across the wider organisation and regionally and nationally when identified.
Main duties of the job
As Lead Physiotherapist, you will:
- Provide highly specialised physiotherapy assessment, formulation and intervention for patients with complex physical and psychological health difficulties.
- Lead the development, implementation, review and evaluation of the Severely Affected Pathway and ARCC Pathway across the respective services.
- Hold a caseload of individuals presenting with severe and complex ME/CFS, Persistent Physical Symptoms and long-term health conditions.
- Deliver physiotherapy interventions across clinic, virtual and domiciliary settings.
- Provide professional leadership, supervision and support to colleagues, students and wider team members.
- Chair and facilitate relevant MDT meetings, including ARCC and ME/CFS pathway discussions.
- Contribute to service design and redesign, quality improvement initiatives, audit and research activity.
- Deliver teaching, training and consultation to multidisciplinary colleagues, patients, carers and partner organisations.
- Support the development of psychologically informed and person-centred approaches to rehabilitation and recovery.
