Main duties of the job

The Lead Occupational Therapist at Elysium Healthcare's Farmfield Hospital will manage a complex caseload for adult men with enduring mental health issues, often with a forensic background. Key responsibilities include assessing, planning, and implementing individual and group interventions to enhance self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure skills. The role involves multidisciplinary team participation, coordination of therapy plans, record accuracy, and management of junior staff. Essential to the role is clinical team support through direct interventions and training delivery. Practitioners must have NHS or private sector experience, at least three years post-qualification experience, and proficiency in psychometric assessment tools. A full and clean UK driving license is also required.

As a Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be:

• Participating fully with the multidisciplinary team and encourage the service users to be fully engaged in their care pathway
• Managing and co-ordinating the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication by the occupational therapists.
• Ensuring the team maintains accurate and timely records detailing each patient’s rehabilitation / progress.
• Ensuring the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.
• Supporting clinical team working, including both direct interventions and the delivery of staff training programmes
• Receiving and responding promptly to referrals, undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis.
• Working to develop living skills, rehabilitation, and educational opportunities/therapies.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• To be qualified and registered as an Occupational Therapist
• At least 3 years post qualifying experience.
• Experience in assessing people with a variety of psychometrics and risk assessment tools
• To be able to work therapeutically, engaging people in developing insight and coping skills to manage their complex needs
• Experience in supervising and managing junior members of the team
• A full and clean UK driving licence
