An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Dietitian to join our Adult Eating Disorders Service in Durham Tees Valley.

The clinical element of this lead role will provide high-quality, evidence-based dietetic assessment and intervention for adults with eating disorders, supporting service users in their recovery, restoration of health, and ability to live their lives as fully as possible. The post holder will be a key member of the community service MDT and will also provide dietetic support to the inpatient MDT at West Park Hospital when required.

The leadership element of the role spans both community and inpatient services. The post holder will provide professional and clinical leadership to an Advanced Practitioner Dietitian, Clinical Specialist Dietitians, Dietitians and Nutritionists working within ED services.

We are looking for a Registered Dietitian with substantial experience of complex dietetic practice within eating disorders, alongside strong leadership skills. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the national drivers influencing eating disorder services and will contribute to service development, audit, research, pathway development, training, and student education.

Main duties of the job

The successful  postholder will promote and maintain the safety, privacy and dignity of all service users, delivering person-centred care that recognises and respects individual differences, including spiritual and cultural beliefs.

You will provide clinical and peer supervision in line with Trust, BDA and HCPC standards.

You will ensure the highest professional standards are maintained and that care is delivered in line with relevant guidelines and the Trust’s values and behaviours.

In addition to this, the postholder will undertake complex dietetic assessments and develop, implement and evaluate individualised intervention plans as part of the MDT, involving service users and their families or carers where appropriate.

You will provide updates and reports on service user progress at clinical meetings, making recommendations to support MDT decision-making and care planning.

You will maintain up-to-date knowledge and competence, undertake relevant training, including statutory and mandatory training, and actively engage in personal and professional development agreed with the line manager and Professional Head of Dietetics.
