We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join our Older Adult Psychology Service within NHS Grampian. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a newly established Enhanced Dementia Support Service, supporting people living with dementia who present with complex psychological needs or distressed behaviour.
You will work closely with a Clinical Psychologist who provides clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, including nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, social work, and medical colleagues, to deliver psychologically informed care and formulation‑driven interventions. The role involves working with people living in their own homes and in residential care settings. As part of the wider Older Adult Psychology Service, you will gain a broad range of experience and contribute to service development across Older Adult Mental Health services in Grampian.

The Older People’s Psychology Service is a supportive team of 7 Clinical Psychologists and 2 Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology, committed to improving the mental health and wellbeing of older people and people living with dementia across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, and Moray. We place strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and professional development. You will receive regular supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist, alongside access to training and a wide professional network within NHS Grampian and partner organisations.
The main base for this post is Glen O’Dee Hospital, Banchory, with travel across Grampian required, including work at Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen.
Up to 36 hours per week are available for this post. Flexible working arrangements may be considered.
