Main duties of the job

To support the Food Services team in meeting the requirements of patients, staff, and visitors, resulting in the delivery of the highest standards of food safety through efficient and effective food storage, preparation, production, and service complying with food safety and hygiene legislation.

Brief outline of duties

Delivering service user meals and hospitalities across all BDCT sites using a trust vehicle.

Correct and economical use of equipment and materials to meet Health and Safety Regulations.

Control of stock and storage of goods complying with Food Safety Legislation:

Receipt, storage, and issue of all goods in compliance with protocols and procedures, ensuring quality and quantity and correct storage.

Ensuring all storage areas, chilled, frozen, and ambient, are maintained to agreed standards.

Support the duty supervisor in the effective and efficient control and monitoring of stock levels, supporting the department to effectively minimize waste.

Weighing of ingredients following agreed protocols.

Ensuring vending machines are cleaned, stocked, and maintained daily to ensure compliance with local protocols.

Compliance with cash handling procedures to include vending and Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS), reporting any discrepancies or maintenance issues to the duty supervisor.

Assist with the service of meals and beverages to patients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full clean UK driving licence for manual vehicle
  • L2 Certificate in food safety (Or willingness to undertake whilst in 6 month probationary period)
  • L2 Food Allergen Awareness (Or willingness to undertake whilst in 6 month probationary period)
  • L2 Customer Service (Or willingness to undertake whilst in 6-month probationary period)

Desirable

  • Food safety qualification.
