Junior Applications Specialist

An exciting new opportunity to join Applications  Support Team in Digital Services as a Junior Applications Specialist. You will be responsible for day to day support of variety of Trust's systems as well as administration, configuration and testing of new work streams and change requests.  It is a junior role supporting our B7 Applications Specialists and B7 Testing Manager. Previous IT experience essential with good understanding of ITIL Service Management.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will manage incidents and change requests on the trusts incident management system (Freshservice) for all applications we support and provide a consistent approach across the Trust, using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that functions of the role are carried out correctly within given timescales. The postholder must understand the systems, offer potential solutions to problems and will support a team of skilled application specialists, ensuring that all requests, customer issues and technical problems are managed within agreed SLAs.

The postholder will undertake advanced maintenance, administration and configuration of the trusts clinical systems and e-RS. You will also be expected to support the expansion and upgrading of the applications as well as supporting new systems in both Project stage and BAU.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to use and deploy a range of diagnostic and analytical assessment tools & methods to problem solve
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and resource them in response to changing demands and requirements
  • A high level of communication skills and ability to explain technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • High Standard Documentation skills
  • Abilty to deal confidently with 3rd party suppliers and build effective working relationships.
  • Good Understanding of IT related processes and procedures

Desirable

  • Experience of carrying out user training on new systems or new funcionality

Previous Experience

Essential

  • In-depth knowledge of complex applications (e.g. such as Patient Administration and Clinical systems) preferably gained in a complex health care environment
  • Experience in the support, maintenance and administration of IT Clinical applications eg. Cerner Millennium, Emis Web & e-RS
  • Proven track of Service Management (Incident, Problem, Change Management etc)
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in IT/Digital Services Support role

Desirable

  • Previous NHS IT experience 1

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in computer science
  • IT related courses and qualifications

Desirable

  • Oracle Millennium courses/qualifications or equivalents in other EPR system support, development and maintenance
