Job overview

*INTERNAL MPFT APPS ONLY*

Are you a newly qualified or qualified Occupational Therapist looking for a new opportunity to work in an organisation that will help you develop and achieve your goals to become the best you can be? If so, you're in luck.

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity to join our Adult Integrated Mental Health Community team in South Staffordshire. For this post, you will be based at Foundation house at St George’s hospital in Stafford. This post is part of the Mental Health rotation so you will rotate every 12 months into a new area within Mental Health.

You will begin work within older adult community mental health services, working primarily between Monday and Friday 9-5, with some flexibility around this. The work patterns and client base is unpredictable and there is regular exposure to highly distressing and emotional circumstances. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a range of high-level occupational therapy specialist assessments that will assess occupational functioning, identifying risks and management plans in the process.

Access to suitable transport is essential as you will be travelling over a large geographical area to visit service users.

Main duties of the job

  • As a Registered Occupational Therapist you will be part of a team providing a specialist older adult mental health service. The service will deliver a pathway of care in accordance with the latest evidence-base, which puts the service user’s needs at the centre of the service.
  • Each team member will be responsible for supporting a culture of “wrapping the service around the person” and will need to work flexibly in order to ensure that pathways work together as a whole service, to meet the person’s needs.
  • You will have a level of knowledge and expertise acquired through in-depth experience of mental health issues underpinned by extensive post registration experience to develop skills, knowledge and an excellent values base. There is an expectation that all work is underpinned by theoretical and technical knowledge, in addition to practical experience gained from a degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy and other relevant training.  Clinical service delivery will incorporate a range of graded therapeutic interventions using occupational performance to address skill deficits enabling the client in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.
