Are you passionate about occupational therapy student education? The AHP Clinical Placement Team is looking for a highly motivated, organised and compassionate leader to manage and grow our occupational therapy placements within the Trust. This role will be supported by the AHP Clinical Placement Team to coordinate and manage demand and capacity of the occupational therapy placements. Working one day a week you will oversee the quality of clinical placements and link in with all of our partner universities delivering pre-registration occupational therapy.

Main duties of the job

Supported by the AHP Professional Lead for Workforce the post holder will be responsible for delivering on MPFT’s AHP ‘Fair Share’ placement expansion programme for occupational therapy. They will work closely with partner provider organisations, placement leads and HEIs providing occupational therapy pre-registration courses to support and achieve local practice placement expansion priorities. They will undertake placement capacity mapping internally within and lead innovative models of student clinical placement education in practice within MPFT.

  • The post holder will work to ensure, evidence based quality student clinical placements are delivered by appropriately trained clinical educators in supporting the delivery of AHP Educator Career Framework and Safe Learning and Education Charter SLEC.

Expanding occupational therapy placement opportunities across MPFT to meet local placement demand.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will develop, in partnership with clinical teams who employ occupational therapists, a placement delivery and expansion plan. This will look at inter-professional/multidisciplinary educational approach to placement and adopting innovative and new models to support placements in line with professional educational requirements/standards, as set out by the HCPC and RCOT taking into consideration the impact of new ways of working in relation to governance and HR and SLEC, including utilising non registered AHP Support Workers to support learning and development.

  • Evidence of dealing with challenging situations

Desirable

  • Masters Degree/PG Cert in Health Education/ Skills, Learning or Teaching qualifications.

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the national NHS agenda and factors influencing AHP education

  • Knowledge of Safe Learning and Education Charter
