The Brockington Parent & Baby Unit Team and South Staffordshire Perinatal & Maternal Mental Team deliver care to expectant and new mothers who are experiencing moderate to severe and complex mental health problems within the perinatal period. The Service is a part of Perinatal Services which includes South Staffordshire Perinatal and Maternal Mental Health Team, Shropshire Perinatal Community Mental Health Team.

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Health Visitor to join our service to help shape the future of the service for families during this transitional time. If you are pragmatic, compassionate individual with strong leadership skills, we would love to hear from you.

You will be responsible for leading the health visiting provision within the PBU and South Staffordshire Perinatal and Maternal Mental Team will meet regularly with the multi-disciplinary team to co-ordinate the delivery of evidenced based practice around perinatal and infant mental health. Effective support for early relationships is foundational in improving outcomes for all children and our perinatal service strives to provide the highest standard of support for maternal and family emotional wellbeing and the parent-infant relationship. Our service focuses on promotion, prevention, and early intervention and works as part of the wider system to ensure that all children and families can access the right support to meet their needs.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work across both the Brockington Parent and Baby Unit and the South Staffordshire Perinatal Community Team, spending two days per week in each service. They are responsible for leading and developing family-focused care within the teams, supporting delivery up to two years postnatally. This includes providing direct health enhancing activities to families with a particular focus on parent – infant relationship, offering training and consultation to health visiting teams, and acting as a strategic link between services. The role also involves driving early intervention initiatives, developing multi-agency pathways, auditing service provision, and promoting positive parent-infant relationships, in line with national and local service development plans.

You will be joining a supportive and engaged multidisciplinary team. You will receive regular supervision and have opportunities for continuing professional development, as well as informal support. The Perinatal team has close connections with the 0-19 Team within the Children and Families Care Group and perinatal services in the West Midlands Provider Collaborative.

There is an expectation for the successful post holder to be able to travel to meet the service need. We welcome applications for flexible and hybrid working.
