Our four Divisional Lead Pharmacists together with their directorate leads form the leadership team for the OUH Clinical Pharmacy Service. Reporting to the Associate Director of Pharmacy (Clinical Services), they play a key role in delivering the Pharmacy and Sterile Services Directorate’s vision by engaging their own teams and their wider divisional team to deliver our goals and objectives.

This is an interim post for 12 months, so offers the ideal opportunity to test if a senior leadership role is for you, and to gain new experiences for your portfolio.

You will be responsible for pharmacy services to our Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, Trauma, Specialist Surgery, Children and Neonates Division, which consists of the following Directorates; Neurosciences, Specialist Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Children's, Ophthalmology, Major Trauma & Theatres. The soon to open Surgical Elective Centre also forms part of the division's services.

Main duties of the job

The Divisional Lead Pharmacists act as role models in terms of Trust values and behaviours as well as clinical expertise. The post-holder will lead and manage, the delivery of an exemplary clinical pharmacy service to their division, in accordance with national standards and strategy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This role maintains a key relationship between their division and the pharmacy directorate to ensure excellent medicine management and the delivery of patient focussed medicines optimisation. The divisional lead is an integral member of the divisional management team, providing expert advice on pharmaceutical matters and taking responsibility for ensuring medicines management and pharmacy services are considered and and any risks mitigated in all developments within the division. The post-holder will need to balance the demands of human resource management, medicines governance and safety, antimicrobial stewardship and cost-effective use of medicines and resources.
