The Role
The post holder reports to the Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Adviser and supports this post in assuring delivery of NHSL IPC Work plan and associated strategies
They will be a valuable member of the IPCT who will assist in the day-to-day implementation of the service, providing support and advice to the diverse range of departments within NHSL and dealing with issues addressed within the main responsibilities of this job description. The post holder will also support the achievement of National Standards in relation to HAI, Cleaning Services and Generic Standards.
The working pattern for this role is Monday- Thursday (08:30-16:30 - 3 days and 08:30-15:30 -1 day) & Friday 08:30-16:00.
In this key role, you will:
- Participate in planning, priority setting and decision making to ensure organisational goals are met and contribute to the development and implementation of IPC guidelines, policies and procedures
- Provide advice to clinical staff on the treatment of patients with alert organisms and conditions.
- Carry out individual risk assessment for each patient referral and ensuring protocols are in place to minimise the risk of infection to others.
- Contribute, as part of the Board Infection Control Committee IPCN sub-group, to the production of Infection Prevention and Control Policies, reviewing assigned policies in collaboration with other members of the IPCT
What You'll Bring:
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
- Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
