LCHS School Aged Immunisation Service is commissioned to deliver all vaccinations to the school aged population across Lincolnshire. An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a skilled, motivated individual with relevant experience to support service delivery of these programmes.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the team you will be expected to work flexibly across the county to deliver the immunisation and vaccination programme under the direction of the Professional Advisor for School Aged Immunisations.

You will be expected to deliver  vaccinations in line with local and national policies and procedures aligned with the contracted service offer.

You will be responsible for using evidence based practice to plan and deliver the programme in a variety of settings for children and young people ensuring that you keep practice up to date.

This post requires that you have the ability to travel between locations countywide to carry out your work and to attend training and meetings; daily access to transport is therefore essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1.To deliver the immunisation and vaccinations programme in a variety of clinical/non clinical setting, ensuring all eligible children and young people have access to relevant immunisation programmes and work towards optimum uptake, taking into account any additional needs identified and referring to the appropriate professionals and agencies. 2. To undertake stock rotation and stock checking in line with policy and ensure storage/refrigeration policy and procedure is complied with to protect the cold chain. 3. To safely transport vaccines from base to setting location following policy and procedure 4. Work collaboratively with schools to support the delivery of the immunisation and vaccination programme 5. Use evidence based practice to deliver, enhance and develop care 6. Be aware of local  and national drivers which develop/enhance/impact on care delivery 7. Adhere to the relevant practitioner Code of Professional Conduct being conversant with the scope of Professional Practice. Demonstrate professional conduct, preserve client’s rights including confidentiality and promote mutual respect amongst colleagues 8. Maintain and record accurate documentation and correspondence in line with trust guidance regarding interactions between clients, colleagues and other agencies in the appropriate legal records and formats 9. Maintain competency and take opportunities for personal development in role through undertaking appropriate mandatory and supplementary/additional training. 10. Work within national and local policies, procedures and guidelines, implementing change in practice as required/directed by Professional Advisor School Age Immunisations. 11.To demonstrate responsibility for own development and to maintain a Personal Development Portfolio for providing evidence of development and revalidation to provide and participate in clinical supervision and appraisal 12. Apply appropriate communication and interpersonal skills to achieve maximum comprehension for clients and their families. Where English is not first language or understanding is limited or required in a different mode, interventions sought to optimise the exchange of relevant information and maximise understanding e.g. translator services, resources for the visually impaired, hearing impaired. 13. To participate in the learning environment for non-registered, pre and post registration students. 14. Maintain own health and safety and that of others by own work activity. Attend statutory health and safety training and identify any work-related risks to the Immunisation Pathway Lead and report in accordance with the Trust’s Risk Management Policy and associated procedures. 15. Participate in audit as required and provide data and information as requested.
