Are you passionate about delivering outstanding patient care and supporting high-quality diagnostic services? We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Imaging Support Worker to join our busy Diagnostic Imaging team.

In this rewarding and varied role, you will play a vital part in ensuring patients receive a safe, efficient and positive experience throughout their imaging journey. Working closely with radiographers, radiologists and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will support the delivery of a wide range of diagnostic imaging services while providing excellent care and reassurance to patients.

As a member of the support team, you will combine hands-on patient care with administrative, technical and procedural responsibilities. You will assist with imaging examinations, manage and prepare equipment, support the effective use of Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), and help maintain smooth day-to-day department operations.

You will be confident working independently within established protocols, using your judgement and initiative to prioritise tasks and respond to patient and service needs. Your knowledge of imaging examinations and procedures will enable you to answer patient queries, support colleagues and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, patient-centred service.

Main duties of the job

Undertake initial patient identification and screening checks, escalating any concerns.

Assist with patient transfers, positioning and manual handling.

Support vulnerable patients and those with additional needs.

Prepare examination rooms and set up equipment for complex and interventional procedures.

Assist practitioners with aseptic and clean techniques.

Check emergency equipment availability and functionality.

Clear and decontaminate equipment after procedures.

Remove cannulas and undertake cannulation where trained and authorised.

Prepare PPE and patient-handling equipment such as hoists.

Recognise deteriorating or unwell patients and escalate concerns.

Take and record observations where trained and authorised.

Support accurate record keeping throughout the patient pathway.

Perform routine equipment checks such as QA and daily checks

Identify, document and report equipment faults or non-conformities.

Move and prepare mobile imaging equipment, ultrasound machines, X-ray units and MRI coils.

Support students, trainees and new staff.

To have a flexible approach to working and to participate in duties between 08:00 and 20:00 Monday to Sunday including bank holidays on a pro rata basis.
