The Imaging Department at Whipps Cross Hospital, Barts Health have an exciting career development opportunity to become a Band 3 Imaging Assistant in our team.
The Imaging Department supports one of the busiest A&Es in the country as well as a broad range of specialties with a CT Colon service, walk-in GP services, dedicated MRI pacemaker imaging service, Dental services and MDT-led Fluoroscopy services. The new hospital planned for Whipps Cross will feature imaging as an essential provider for same day assessment and treatment of patients.
Imaging services across Barts Health are transitioning to a new model of work, recruiting more staff, including Imaging Assistants, to drive the quality of care delivered by Radiography across all sites. Our vision is to support staff to work to the top of their licence, nurturing skills through training and mentorship to realise a workforce that provides outstanding care for our patients now and in the future.
Main duties of the job
As a member of our busy and dynamic department your central role would be to provide the highest quality care for patients referred to our service. The post holder will work closely with Radiographers and clinical staff of all grades in the safe, prompt and effective imaging of in patients and outpatients, observing local and national guidelines.
The post holder will be required to rotate through CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology, Fluoroscopy and General X-Ray. They will participate in the delivery of a 24/7, 365 service and participate in the extended 7-day service in MRI.
Working under the trained Radiographer’s supervision the post holder will have a key role in preparing patients for their examinations in Imaging. The post holder will schedule work for the Imaging department. The post holder will liaise with portering staff to ensure that the patients are transported safely and appropriately to and from the Imaging department. In addition, you would provide clerical and admin support.
