About the Role

As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our patients and staff.

Purpose of job:

  • Work as a member of the housekeeping team, contributing to the provision of a comfortable and effective stay for patients, by ensuring that the ward/departments are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and to help serve meals as required.
  • Work as a member of the non-ward-based team, ensuring that all non-ward areas(offices, corridors etc.) are cleaned to a high standard of cleanliness, maintaining a pleasant environment for staff, patient and visitors.
  • To carry out the full range of duties listed below.

Experience

Essential

  • Basic housekeeping experience
  • Hygiene COSSH procedures

Desirable

  • Infection prevention and control
  • NHS experience.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to deal confidently and professionally with members of the public and staff
  • Able to read and understand written and verbal communication/instruction.
  • Team worker
  • Customer focussed
  • Basic IT skills

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Good level of basic education.
  • Able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy, and comprehension skills.

Desirable

  • NVQ level 1 in cleaning and support services building interior
  • Basic food hygiene.
