Job overview

St Mark's Hospital in Maidenhead currently has one inpatient ward, with a second, modern ward due to open later this year. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Housekeeper to join our multi-disciplinary inpatient team.

As an integral member of the ward team, you will help maintain a clean, comfortable and well-equipped environment for our patients, supporting high standards of infection prevention and control, nutrition and hydration, stock management and patient experience. Working alongside nursing, therapy, domestic, catering and estates teams, you'll be at the heart of ensuring the ward runs smoothly and efficiently every day.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised, flexible and enjoys working with people. Previous housekeeping or care experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training and support will be provided. This is a full time (37.5hrs) permanent role, which will include weekday and weekend working.

The unit is based in Maidenhead close to local shops and public transport links for easy commuting, and St Mark's Community Hospital staff are eligible for Fringe London Weighting under Agenda for Change, which equates to an additional 5% of your basic NHS salary, as well as free staff parking on site.

Unfortunately, this role doesn't meet the requirements for Certificate of Sponsorship.

If you recognise yourself in these requirements, we recommend you apply today.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable ward environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Support infection prevention and control standards by monitoring cleanliness and liaising with domestic teams regarding routine, deep and enhanced cleaning requirements.
  • Coordinate and support patient meal services.
  • Maintain ward stocks, including stores, food and lines, ensuring supplies are available to meet patient needs.
  • Ensure patient areas, equipment and ward environments are clean, tidy and well maintained, reporting maintenance or environmental concerns appropriately.
  • Assist with collecting patient feedback and supporting a positive patient experience on the ward.
  • Work flexibly to support the changing needs of the ward and service.
