An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our multi-professional team at the Plastics Surgery Dressing Clinic
We are looking for a committed individual who would like to take on a challenge and help further develop the role of ward-based Housekeeper within the hospital setting. The ability to work alongside and support clinical staff with the day to day running of the clinic environment is essential. Good communication skills and the ability to converse with all members of the multi-professional team are critical to the success of the role.
Previous experience of working in a Housekeeper type role is desirable although not essential as learning opportunities will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The clinic Housekeeper role is a key part of the multi-professional team & vital in supporting the smooth running of the clinical areas. The role involves ensuring equipment is clean and working, ready for use and appropriate stock levels are maintained at point of care by carrying out regular stock checks and assisting the ordering process in a timely manner.
Stock rotation is vital in ensuring disposable items are used within the required time frame and new stock is ordered accordingly.
The role will also involve an element of cleaning and maintaining equipment used by ward-based staff i.e. patient monitors, and regularly carrying out equipment checks to ensure PAT testing has been completed.

- IT and keyboard Skills
- Ability to utilise cleaning equipment, manipulating trolleys, clean clinical equipment ensuring reduction in infections
- There is a frequent requirement for lifting, pushing and pulling for substantial proportion of the working day when cleaning, stock control and bed making
- Concentration is required to ensure equipment is sufficiently clean or meals are ordered correctly where the work pattern is predictable
- Frequent exposure to emotional and distressing circumstances whilst dealing with patient who are either mentally or physically incapacitated
- Frequent exposure to dealing with bodily fluids as part of the role of cleaning the ward environment

- Knowledge of cleaning techniques

- Experience of delivering cleaning and or food services within a hospital or hotel environment

- Knowledge of COSHH principles
- Experience of dealing with complaints face to face
Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to GCSE / Level 2 in Maths & English
- Level 2 Food Hygiene or willing to undertake
Desirable
- NVQ level 2 in Cleaning services
