An exciting opportunity has arisen for a successful candidate to join our busy team within Hotel Services department and support the Supervisory Team in providing service guidance and support to staff responsible for service delivery, quality and monitoring and improving efficiency within the Hotel Services departments and at ward and department level at a community hospital and healthcare setting.
The post holder will operate as a supervisor at Ysbty Cwm Rhondda Hospital managing Catering Services ensuring that patient feeding services and restaurant services are delivered to agreed specification, resources are adequate and available, staffing levels are maintained.
Main duties of the job
Report to and work with the responsible Hotel Services Team Leader to implement all services, operational policies, procedures, schedules of work, safe systems of work, audit their implementation and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
Review working practices regularly to respond to legislation, internal and external influences such as Agenda for Change, the Working Time Directive, and Benchmarking, Health & Safety and employment legislation and new service developments.
Post holder will be required to perform supplementary duties to respond to service needs and that are appropriate to the Facilities services and in line with their banding.
The post holder will be expected to work at any of the Health Board sites and to fulfil any job allocated, commensurate with the banding.

This doesn’t mean essential ; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Essential
- Welsh language skills in Speaking/Listening at Level 3 or above
Knowledge
Essential
- Good educational background and an appropriate certificate in management studies intermediate food hygiene certificate and be able to work to NVQ level 1, 2 and 3 food service standards, and any other relevant Hotel Services qualifications as required.
Desirable
- Worked in a Hospital environment or similar environment
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience of working within a restaurant/cafeteria, using a cash register and providing functions. Further on the job training will be provided.
Desirable
- An understanding of Facilities Services or experience of working in Facilities
