Hospital Podiatrist

Job summary

The post holder will be an effective team player with a flexible approach to working within a large acute hospital trust. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate an understanding of the differing roles, priorities, and pathways across both hospital and primary care settings. A sound knowledge and understanding of the management of high-risk patients, including those with diabetic foot complications, is essential. This includes experience in diabetic wound assessment, treatment, and ongoing management. The successful candidate will be well supported by the wider Allied Health Professional (AHP) team, with access to mentorship, clinical supervision, and a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. Working alongside an experienced podiatry team will provide opportunities to further develop clinical skills, broaden knowledge, and enhance professional practice. A commitment to continuous learning, service improvement, and delivering high-quality patient care is essential for this role within the hospital podiatry team.

Main duties of the job

To work within the Podiatry team taking responsibility for high risk patients within the hospital environment. These will include consultant based referrals from hospital Multi-Disciplianary Teams (MDT) including areas of Diabetes, Rheumatology, Vascular, Renal, and Orthopaedics. Diabetes will be a key area of work. Hospital wards will also be a major area of work which include planning and delivering Training and Development across the trust. The post holder will liaise with any appropriate hospital or primary health care professional. The post holder will have the ability to make a clinical diagnosis to ensure appropriate patient care within the scope of their professional practice. What you will bring to the role

You will be a HCPC registered Podiatrist able to deliver comprehensive podiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a varied and often complex caseload, including patients with highrisk and diabetes related foot complications.

You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, with an understanding of multidisciplinary working.

You will bring a flexible approach to working within a busy service and be able to adapt to changing clinical demands.

You will demonstrate a commitment to Continuing Professional Development, with a desire to develop your clinical skills and knowledge in order to enhance your practice and achieve your full professional potential.
