We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic Speech and Language Therapist to join our Inpatient department at Bradford Royal Infirmary. This is a fixed term (12 month) maternity cover post. The service covers all adult acute wards including Stroke, Neurology, Critical care, Respiratory, Surgical and medical admissions. The inpatient service now also includes the Macmillan Head and Neck cancer team. We benefit from positive working relationships with all members of the MDT including our joint-videofluoroscopy clinics as well as an established FEES service.
Main duties of the job
To deliver in this role, you will have significant experience in working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders. Skills in videofluoroscopy, FEES and tracheostomy management are desirable. You will also have experience of operational management duties including supervision of newly qualified speech and language therapists, students as well as assistants. As this is a fixed term post we are looking for an experienced clinician who can continue to support the instrumental clinics as well as supervision and training to the wider team.

We have a strong focus on service and clinical development and all our team members are supported to upskill in order to develop specialist roles.
We are a well-established, supportive and friendly team with staff wellbeing at the forefront of team development. This is achieved through a strong pastoral care approach to management. As part of the service, you will benefit from peer support and clinical supervision within the wider inpatient team.

- Significant post graduate experience including recent experience in the NHS
- Experience of providing teaching/ clinical supervision
- Highly specialist knowledge and experience in the diagnosis, treatment and general management of a wide range of acquired swallowing and communication disorders.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team

- Experience of student placement educator
- High level of knowledge and experience delivering a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions and evidence

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with Certificate to Practice recognised by the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
- Post Graduate Dysphagia qualification
- HCPC Registration
Desirable
- Clinical Educator Training
- Videofluoroscopy and FEES competencies
- Involvement in a Clinical Excellence Network.
