Highly Specialist Physiotherapist MSK Band 7

We have part time (30 hours 0.8 WTE) Band 7 post available in the Huntingdon and Doddington  locality.

We are looking for a clinician who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, likes working in a team and wants to provide the best they can to their patients.

The applicant should have substantial post graduate experience in musculoskeletal outpatients.

Main duties of the job

To undertake advanced assessment and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal problems that may have complex and or chronic presentation and to determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

To undertake clinical duties in a number of ways which may include face to face consultations, virtual consultations and Group settings.

Specialist assessment and treatment of patients as part of the multidisciplinary team, working towards maintaining a high standard of service in designated areas, independently responsible for own caseload and area of responsibility. Responsible for managing, prioritising and delegating this clinical caseload.

To assist in the management of the day-to-day clinical services of the team to ensure that a proficient and effective service is provided to all patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care. To ensure high standards of clinical care for patients’ and support more junior members of staff to do likewise. At all times post-holder will work within CSP and CCS guidelines.

Evaluate and prioritise the referrals received based on clinical need and communication with the referring party.

To undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex and multiple presentation, using investigative and analytical skills, and to formulate individualised management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care.

To interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnosis and prognoses in a wide range of complex conditions and to recommend the best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharges plans where appropriate.

To demonstrate highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory senses for assessment and manual treatment of patients.

To accept clinical responsibility for a caseload of patients and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

To treat patients in group settings of up to 15 patients. To be responsible for assessing suitability of patients for group treatment and on-going monitoring of individuals within the group.

To actively participate in working groups, clinical governance sessions and to contribute to the development of policy changes within musculoskeletal care that will impact on all service users.

  • Substantial post graduate MSK experience
  • Evidence of advanced supervisory skills with complex patient presentation and management

Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstratable expert knowledge of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Desirable

  • Relevant evidence of leadership experience
  • Reflective Practice and emotional intelligence with regard to self and others
  • Exceptional organisational skills

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate study, courses and CPD

Desirable

  • Extensive knowledge of non-MSK pathologies and managing an undifferentiated caseload.
  • Previous experience of interpreting investigations
