Highly Specialist Pharmacist- Medical Admissions
30 hours per week / 0.8 wte
Fixed term/Secondment for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Team to provide specialist support to the Medical Admissions areas.
This Highly Specialist Pharmacist will work with the Medical Admissions team and act as an expert and advisor to colleagues in Medical Admissions and the wider trust.
Main duties of the job
- audit, monitor and develop, medicines management and risk management within the Trust
- provide training and supervision to other departmental staff
- Act as a deputy to the Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist/ Deputy Chief Pharmacist in professional activities associated with the pharmacy service with regard to directorate/specialty activity and provide professional leadership to the Trust on an ad-hoc basis during absence of Chief Pharmacist and Deputy Chief Pharmacist and Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist from hospital site.
- Be responsible and accountable for the quality of the service provided to the Acute Medical Admissions wards AMU1, AMU2, AAU1, AAU2 and works closely with ED pharmacist lead.
- act as a role model for other clinical pharmacists and provide ‘in-house’ clinical training, supervision and first level management support for all pharmacists relative to their needs in the specialist practice areas
- develop, implement and monitor standards for the clinical pharmacy service in conjunction with other Senior Clinical Pharmacists
- implement practice research within the pharmacy department

Essential
- Advanced clinical knowledge of the pharmaceutical care of patients within the clinical speciality.
- Good all round clinical knowledge and ability to use research findings to develop clinical services / patient care.
- Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development / education
Desirable
- Awareness of influencers published Nationally around clinical pharmacy services
Experience
Essential
- Post registration hospital experience
- Post registration hospital experience within a relevant clinical speciality. or equivalent documented clinical experience
- Ability to cope with occasional distressing circumstances eg when dealing with seriously ill patients
- Able to think clearly in stressful situations
Qualifications
Essential
- MPharm or equivalent
- GPhC registration
- Postgraduate clinical pharmacy diploma or equivalent experience
- NMP and DPP qualification – you will be expected to provide education and supervision to trainee pharmacists developing their prescribing and pharmaceutical skills.
- Good all round clinical knowledge and practical clinical skills.
- Pre-registration training and experience
Desirable
- Evidence of further education/training in clinical pharmacy practice
- Formal Management qualification (eg diploma or degree)
