Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 speech and language therapist at  Paddock Special School. This is a contract post to cover maternity leave. This role is ideal for people who are interested in developing their clinical skills at Band 7 level and contributing to the development of the service.

  • Experience of, and specialist skills working with, a diverse paediatric caseload  4-18 years old
  • Experience in developing and delivering universal and / or targeted level offers to special schools and/or resource bases
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently where necessary
  • Enthusiasm, imagination, and initiative
  • Understanding of the neurodiversity framework

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of service delivery within  the Special Schools team.
  • To demonstrate highly specialist clinical skills in an area relevant to the team you work in.
  • To lead/supervise others within the service and to act as a resource and support for other therapists working with children with speech, language, and social communication difficulties.
  • To be responsible for the management of a caseload of children with learning difficulties  and social communication differences.
  • To provide line management to junior staff and SLTAs and participate in and provide clinical supervision and support as required.
  • To work with parents, carers, school staff and other agencies involved in the children’s care as well as part of a multi-agency team.
