This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the established greater Manchester specialist support team working alongside key stakeholders and partner agencies to enhance community provision for people who are autistic or who have a learning disability.
You will provide high quality consultation, specialist assessment and intervention to deliver effective, person centred clinical services for people who have come into contact or are at risk of contact with criminal justice agencies, and/or at risk of placement breakdown and/or at risk of in-patient admission.
Main duties of the job
The Greater Manchester Specialist Support team is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of nursing, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social work, psychology and psychiatry. You will be expected to work in all areas of Greater Manchester and liaise with a number of partner agencies including health, social care and the Criminal Justice agencies to develop proactive and preventative risk mitigation support. You will be required to work primarily 9-5, Monday to Friday and will be required to support the 24 hour on-call Rota.

To hold a clinical caseload
To provide comprehensive risk assessment and risk management strategies and recommendations.
To provide a range of specialist evidence-based interventions.
To provide recommendations for gate keeping assessments where appropriate and complete gatekeeping assessments.
To be able to respond to emergency meetings and represent the service.
To develop complex service specifications to support hospital discharge plans.

Skills
Essential
- Ability to provide specialist advice on forensic care to other staff groups.
- Ability to work in a multiagency context
- Competent IT Skills in order to prepare reports, diagrams, drawing in relation to clinical practice and teaching.
- Skills in the assessment of complex behaviours using a variety of methods including analysis and interpretation.
- Skills in designing of intervention and management plans, evaluation and monitoring.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Ability to work with difficult issues and sometimes in crisis (abuse, sexual offending) make decisions and recognise limits of own competency.
- Ability to communicate and motivate at all levels.
- Ability to lead by example.
Desirable
- Ability to respond to crisis situations and provide advice / guidance in ensuring service users, their carers and members of the public are kept safe.
Knowledge
Essential
- A minimum of 4 years post registration working with people with learning disabilities who offend
- Experience working with staff teams, providing consultancy and clinical supervision.
- Experience of working with service users who have learning disabilities an complex needs (risk of offending).
- Experience in the use of forensic risk assessment and management.
- Experience of Positive Behavioural Support and Person-Centred Planning.
- Experience of staff training and development.
- Experience of communicating with people on complex matters, issues and ideas and / or complex situations.
- A good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, DOLs, Safeguarding and the legal frameworks applicable to working with offenders in a community setting
- Experience of supervising staff.
- Knowledge of commissioning and procurement arrangements within local areas.
- Knowledge of the structure, roles and responsibilities within health and social care provision and the criminal justice agencies.
Desirable
- Experience working within a community-based service.
- Experience of service development and evaluation, for example project work, audit and research
- In depth understanding of the Criminal Justice Process.
- Knowledge in theories of offending in learning disabilities.
- Experience in the delivery of adapted offender programmes .
- Experience of individual and / or group offence specific interventions.
Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse learning disability or Mental Health
- Registration with relevant professional body
- Master’s Degree (or experience and knowledge that is equivalent).
Desirable
- Post registration training in a therapeutic / intervention approach (e.g., in a specific psychological therapy such as CBT, CAT, Applied Behavioural Analysis and Intervention
- Forensic Risk Assessment (RSVP, HCR-V3)
