Positive Difference Health is seeking a motivated and organised clinical psychologist to play a central role in the service’s clinical and operational delivery. Initially based at the Ashbourne Centre, Kingsway, with some remote working and work into other settings, you will provide clinical input, support staff onboarding and training, develop service offers, evaluate impact and help the business grow.
We are looking for someone professional, patient-focused, flexible and creative, who delivers excellent clinical care and can contribute ideas to strengthen the clinical offer and support business development. As this is a new service, the post holder must be comfortable working with some uncertainty, keen to develop their skills, able to prioritise competing demands, and willing to travel across Derbyshire and further afield when required, including into settings such as prisons
Main duties of the job
Positive Difference Health is a new private patient service established by Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The first phase of service delivery will focus on delivery of psychological assessment and treatment as well as supervision/reflective practice in a variety of locations which may include prisons, health and local business. There are plans to expand into additional clinical areas over time. This is a start-up environment operating within an NHS organisational framework, and the postholder will be central to making the service operationally functional from day one.
The post holder will be a key member of staff within Positive Difference Health. The role will combine direct clinical work with overall service development and doctoral level evaluation / publication. The post holder will have experience of assessing and treating a range of MH presentations in adults, including work with those having a range of complex mental health needs. The post holder will deliver evidence-based interventions to those fee-paying clients. As well as direct clinical work the post holder will deliver reflective practice / supervision to external clinical and non-clinical staff.
The post holder will work flexibly to help develop the service and future roles within the area. The right candidate will be a self-starter who takes ownership of their work and is willing to help grow and develop the service.

Essential
- Good Honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) giviGood Honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) giving eligibility for graduate membership of the BPSng eligibility for graduate membership of the BPS
- Postgraduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the BPS and giving eligibility for membership of the Health Care Professions Council HCPC
Skills and Experience
Essential
- In addition to routine CPD and supervision, has demonstrated a clear commitment to developing a specialist area of expertise relevant to the post through significant training, personal study, experience and/or research as evidenced by CPD log, appraised during IPR process
- Experience of working with people with a range of mental health / psychological problems and across the lifespan and in a variety of settings
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS and HCPC
- Evidence of taking full clinical responsibility for clients with a range of mental health problems and severity, within the context of multi-disciplinary care
