An exciting opportunity has arisen for Highly Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse Prescriber and Practitioner to join the Neurodevelopmental Team at City and Hackney Specialist CAMHS. City and Hackney Specialist CAMHS is a busy, forward thinking and thriving CAMHS service with high staff morale and excellent CPD opportunities.

The clinician will join a large, experienced multi-disciplinary team of clinicians who provide a range of diagnostic and mental health services to children young people and their families with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide comprehensive specialist assessments, including risk assessment of young people and their families/carers referred with mild learning disability and/or ASD and/or ADHD. They will provide evidence-based behaviour management interventions as part of an integrated care package to children, young people and their families/carers. The post holder will safely prescribe and monitor medications within local and national guidelines, in liaison with a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. This includes conveying to parents, carers and young people, the implications of a prescribed medication, the side effects and what they have to watch for in a sensitive, meaningful way. You will be expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of the prescription of medication effects, side effects and contra-indications in accordance with the independent and supplementary prescribers’ training and current legislation. They will be aware of key trends in the evidence base for prescribing and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of medicines commonly prescribed. We will provide an interesting and supportive work environment, with good training and supervision, and regular opportunities to share practice with other ELFT psychotherapy colleagues.
