Job overview

To undertake a full range of advanced (specialist and highly specialist) cardio logical diagnostic procedures.

To work independently in all aspects of cardiology. Invasive and non Invasive.

To support the trainees and assist with their training.

Support the day-to-day running of the pacemaker service alongside the pacing team, you will be expected to ensure optimum delivery of the pacing service. You will be required maintain awareness of the status of the service as a whole and provide support and, where necessary, personal participation in the work of other sections to ensure the highest possible standards of quality and efficiency are maintained.

Working to Trust and National Guidelines and in cooperation with the Procurement Service, you and the pacing team will also be responsible for ensuring the infrastructure and equipment of the implantation service is maintained in good working order and is adequate for purpose.

You and the pacing team will ensure the service is at the forefront of modern practice by the development, implementation and maintenance of education and monitoring programmes in the field of implantation technology. This will require a substantial personal involvement in the training, mentoring, supervision and assessment of cardiac physiology, nursing and medical staff.

Main duties of the job

Clinical- Generic

  • To perform specific specialised tasks as outlined below.
  • Perform echocardiography independently with report would be desirable
  • Undertake advanced procedures within the Cardiology Department (to include lead Physiologist in technician-led Exercise ECG procedures, Echocardiography, implantation and follow-up, cardiac catheterisation).
  • work independently in the catheter lab undertaking angio grams and pacemaker implantation
  • support the pacing service with clinics would be desirable
  • To develop and maintain knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Support the pacing team with the day-to-day delivery of the pacing service and Implantable devices Service at Manor Hospital, in co-operation with the Cardiologists and Head of Technical Services, Cardiology.
  • Provision to support and oversee Domiciliary patients. Organise pacing staff to attend to these patients as well as occasional home visits.
  • Independently analyses complex data, performs complex calculations and compiles an accurate written technical report. 6 Performs a wide range of non-invasive Cardiac investigations for example ECGs, BP, Holter Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing, Device downloads and device re-programming.
  • Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Cath Labs during Angiograms, PCI, Device implantation and Cardioversions.
  • Promote Physiologist ILR implants – maintain competencies to gain formal written consent from patients.
